This first half of 2023 is probably the busiest we’ve ever been at Novasound…
We’ve been working on some really great projects this year and thought it would be cool to let you know a bit more about them. So, over the next few weeks, we’ll be posting a spotlight on some of our highlights of 2023 so far.
Working in any creative environment, it’s really easy to get into a routine of moving straight onto the next job so we thought we’d reflect on the music we’ve been making and what we’ve learned along the way.
We love to write music for theatre and the shows we’ve composed for have all been completely different styles both in sound and performance – all telling stories that have captivated and inspired us. We’ll be sharing music from The Multiverse Is Gay!, Protest, Sean & Daro Flake It ’Til They Make It, Meet Me At The Knob and Shrill in the aforementioned spotlights but you can also listen to all things Novasound here.
It’s been great to get involved with Hen Hoose again. For those who don’t know, Hen Hoose is a collective of female and non binary producers and writers who collaborate to make music that spans across multiple genres. We mastered their Scottish Album of the Year nominated first release and were delighted to master their new collection earlier this year. The release date is TBC but we can assure you it’s a wonderful listen!
Something new for us this year has been forming a relationship with Universal Production Music. Gone are the days of library music being boring and predictable! We have revelled in the challenge of writing snappy, pop driven tracks for TV & Media and we’re looking forward to sharing this music and a bit about our approach when writing to briefs.
Speaking of approach…. We’ve had to adjust our own for many of these projects! Not only has it been the busiest year for Novasound (and it’s only September!!) but each of us have been embarking on our own journeys: Lauren in further education and me, as the drummer in Franz Ferdinand. Everything we do outside of the studio always enriches what we bring back in so we’ll be telling you about all of this too!
